Dynamic jewel-sculpture thought by the artist at 16. He was inspired by the homonymous musical piece by the rock group genesis. He began to design and build this work when he was 46 and he ended it on May 2015. Nowadays it is the most important work of the artist. In this complex machinery of jewelry, the master tells all his life, from his birth represented by the ring with a violet pomegranate shape (only wearable jewel of the work) until death, represented by “the fatal hug” on the central disc, where Alessandro hugs a son. The moth dance, on the top of the work, is a symbolic evocation of passing away before being resurrected. The angel in the sounding flower captures and purifies every sound destined to nourish the soul. The other characters are real and evoke, on their movements, the contrasted path between life and death. A supreme gaze (God) wrapped in a fertile moon illuminates everything that belongs to the “shadows of the matter”.
