Advanced Course of the Jewel of Art

To satisfy his desire of teaching the goldsmithing art to the jewelers of the future, Master Dari has opened a highly personalized Jewelry Sculpture School, inside his own Museum – Workshop. The school continues the tradition of the ancient Florentine artistic workshops, providing experience that is unique based on the union of the arts. Master Dari is in fact the only artist in Italy that provides a tailor-made Micro-sculpture course for jewelry.

In the Museum-Workshop of Maestro Dari, the history of the jewel, even if it is static, becomes a way to get in touch with other forms. A status that from static, leads to the dynamic.

In the Goldsmiths School, the student is placed in an environment that inspires creativity; he can soak up the artistic current of perceptual dynamism, founded by the Master. The students will then become the first disciples of the new artistic movement, for this reason they will not learn the mere repetition of the artworks, but they will be stimulated to approach the form, activating their personal perceptive and creative way.

Who can participate?

The School is aimed at students and professionals who wish to learn or deepen the techniques of the Goldsmithing Art with a personalized approach, within classes of maximum 7 people, in a true Florentine historical workshop.

The limited number of students ensures that each participant is personally supervised by Master Dari, for a tailor-made learning. The intimate dimension of the School allows a very high organizational efficiency, in a professional, disciplined but at the same time familiar working environment.


The Museum-Workshop of Master Dari is a Jewelry School that is unique in the world: the workshop of the Master is in fact part of the Florentine art shops and is existing since 1630. The Goldsmiths’ school is located in the district of San Niccolò in Florence, in an area of great atmosphere, far from the major tourist flows, where the true character of the life in Florentine workshops comes out. Each course is open to a maximum of 5 students.

Mission e Skills

The mission of the Goldsmiths School is to offer an individual tailor-made course, highly specialized and adaptable to the requests and attitudes of the student. The purpose is to provide the highest degree of preparation possible. At the end of the course the student will have acquired extensive professional and technical skills. The final purpose is to stimulate the creative potential of each goldsmith as well as artisans and artists already initiated to this profession.

Final Manufactured Product

At the end of the first module of the course of “goldsmithing sculpture in wax sculptural techniques”, the student will be able to make a wax prototype of a ring, a pendant, a bracelet or another jewel, that in a second moment – with the technique of lost wax casting – will be transformed and molded in the exact copy made of precious or not precious metals.

Schedule and Timetable
  • Modeling and excavation of the various types of waxes: hard, medium, soft; tube, plate, block, wire.
  • Preparation of wax models for goldsmithing.
  • Application of the most important techniques: use of the jigsaw for wax, file, emery, cutters, wax heaters, gun for wax, welding and finishing of the piece in wax.
  • Filing, finishing and polishing of the casting piece.

Basis duration: 1 month. Complete duration: 3 months. From Monday to Friday, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The courses have a duration of 1 month up to 3 months, it depends on the starting level. Depending on the skills and time availability of students, the course may have a shorter or longer duration. The price is directly proportional to the duration of the improvement path.

The dates of the courses are open the whole year.

Flexible timetable

Thanks to the highly personalized dimension that the Alessandro Dari School of Jewelry ensures, the class timetable and attendance can be changed, depending on the needs of the students. Moreover, depending on the level of knowledge of the students, the course may have a shorter or longer duration. The price will be proportional to the duration of the course itself. Maestro Dari is available to arrange Master Classes, Intensive Courses or Training Weekends, to meet the needs of each student.

Course Modules

Available during the whole year, the course of “sculptural techniques of waxwork” focuses on architectural and anatomical concepts.

Theoretical learning starts from the observation of the forms of reality, with geometric drawing exercises and the study of the golden section.


And this is how we arrive to the practical reproduction of architectural and anatomical elements in wax. Following the approach of the tradition of Florentine Renaissance goldsmith workshops, the inspiration that the student gets through Master Dari and watching the manufactured works is useful to re-elaborate intimate thoughts on goldsmithing art.

To be admitted to the course, the students of the Jewel Sculpture School have to bring a selection of previously completed works. No more than 5 students will be followed at the same time. The materials and equipment used for the creation of the manufactured products are supplied by the School and are included in the price of the course.

The materials used are supplied by the school, as well as the tools necessary for carrying out the work.

Gold and precious gemstones are excluded.
